Following the quick update meeting held in hybrid format at the 2023 IEEE MEMS Conference, we held a virtual meeting covering past and future planned activities for our heavy lifters. We reviewed all past activity, spending some additional time going over the last several years of our flagship MEMS conference. We also discussed our partnership with PowerMEMS, Transducers, and IVNC conferences. The MEMS TC has a healthy supply of funds coming from our conferences and conference proceedings. This has enabled us to support outreach activities to the Sensors Council and Electron Devices Society through booths and sponsorships of their meetings and meeting activities in the past year. Attendees discussed the possibility of initiating a MEMS Design Contest and Student Leadership Council. We also discussed the possibility of including video content as part of our offerings, similar to what other units in IEEE do. Volunteers were encouraged to propose new activities.
Importantly, the TC discussed as a group its future directions as TCs typically have a lifetime of 5 years. Several options were explored as well as a discussion to determine what features any future entity should have to support the needs of our larger community. The options of forming a Council and Society were discussed.
