For a 3rd consecutive year, the MEMS-TC organized its MEMS Mixer during the 69th Annual IEEE International Electron Devices Meeting (IEDM), the IEEE Electron Devices Society (EDS) flagship conference with main focus on semiconductor and electronic device technology, design, manufacturing, physics, and modeling. As usual, we sent out invitation e-mails to the IEDM Technical Program Committee (TPC) members, the Sensor, MEMS, and Bioelectronic (SMB) session track presenters, all MEMS-TC members, and the SF-Bay Area MEMS & Sensors Chapter mailing list subscribers. At the end, 93 attendees registered for the event and enjoyed a reception-style dinner, network with other experts in MEMS technologies from Industry and Academia and learned about the MEMS-TC mission and activities.
The MEMS Mixer was hosted on December 12th, 2023, in the Franciscan A/B rooms at the Union Square Hilton Hotel in San Francisco, CA. Three different food stations with Mexican, Asian, and Italian flavors, and many beverage options were served to account for possible dietary restrictions and preferences. The reception was held from 5:30 to 8pm on the 3rd day of the conference and was publicized by IEDM as one of its satellite events. At the beginning of the event, our Conference VP (Prof. Philip Feng), Publicity VP (Jeronimo Segovia-Fernandez), and our Guest (Prof. Mina Rais-Zadeh) explained the benefits of having a technical community that promotes and supports MEMS research and technologies through Conferences, Journals, Workshops, etc. and our efforts to become an IEEE Council or Society in the near future. We ended the night with two different options of desserts and many interesting conversations that hopefully set the basis for future collaborations among some of the attendees.
